Abstract

Economic activities are an important part of human life. Most of human life is spent in fulfilling them.
At present, banks are part of economic activities where large scale transactions take place. But the problem is that these activities are based on interest and Islam strictly forbids it. Scholars have been looking for a solution for a long time. Today, Islamic banking is a result of these efforts. What is Islamic banking, how did it develop, what is the philosophy behind it, and how does it differ from traditional banking on a practical basis? Article is attempted to address these questions. The researcher has come to the conclusion that Islamic banking is incomparable in terms of ideological foundations and philosophy of Islamic economics. It has much positivity in the practical field and needs improvement in many places. Researchers suggest that Islamic bankers should take steps to bring Islamic banking closer to philosophy of Islamic economics.
