An Analytical Study of Various Discussions Related to Judaism in Tafsir Bayan al-Qur'an (Dr. Israr Ahmad)

Abstract

After the migration, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a direct encounter with the Jews whose settlements were located very close to Madinah. These people believed in monotheism, mission, revelation, hereafter, and angels. They accepted the Shariah code which was revealed by Allah to His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and their religion was the same Islam that was being taught by the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). But the continuous degeneration of centuries had removed them far from the original religion. Many non-Islamic elements were mixed in their beliefs for which there was no evidence in the Torah. In their practical life, many customs and practices were not in the original religion. They intermixed the Torah itself with human speech. The religious, moral, and practical condition of their scholars, chiefs of the nation, and the people had deteriorated. For centuries, when a servant of Allah told them the right path of religion, they considered him their enemy and tried in every possible way to prevent him from reforming. They adopted this attitude with the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad ﷺ too. Instead of believing in him, when they came down on enmity, Allah the Exalted, in the Holy Qur'an, explained their religious, practical, economic, and social evils and advised the believers to stay away from the Jews. In this research article, such bad practices of the Jews are mentioned in the light of Dr. Israr Ahmad's commentary in  "Bayan-ul-Qur'an".
