God has made prophethood the means of connection between Himself and His servants. From among His servants, He chose the best of them in character and lineage to guide all of humanity, so that this rational being—endowed with intellect, thought, reflection, and distinction—would not remain without a guide and leader in this world enveloped in pleasures, enjoyments, and desires. Thus, God made these pure souls like beacons of light in pitch darkness, through whom people find guidance across the ages. Whoever follows their guidance, God honors with the light of faith and direction; and whoever turns away from their path becomes among those who incur divine غضب and those who go astray. As God, the Exalted, says: “So whoever wills—let him believe; and whoever wills—let him disbelieve” (cf. Qur'an 18:29), for the choice of acceptance or rejection lies within the authority of every human being without condition. The denier will regret on the Day of Judgment, saying: “And the Day the wrongdoer will bite his hands [in regret] and say, ‘Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way’” (Qur'an, Al-Furqan 25:27). God made the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the last of the prophets. He is the sole source of peace for humanity, in both East and West, and the only one who brought peace to the world through his actions and teachings. It is an evident historical fact that the Jews were awaiting the mission of the final Prophet from among themselves. However, when they realized that he was sent among the descendants of Ishmael (peace be upon him), they became his staunchest enemies. They exerted their utmost efforts to kill him and subsequently sought to distort his message through various activities and operations, including the translation of the Qur’an into other languages in a distorted manner to prevent Christians at that time from embracing Islam. Among those who envied and hated Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the famous French saint Peter the Venerable, who initiated a translation project aimed at distorting the meanings of the Qur’an and religious texts. Within the framework of this project, Robert of Ketton translated the Qur’an into Latin under the title Lex Mahumet pseudoprophete in 1143. Over time, the forms of hostility and aggression against the Prophet (peace be upon him) have changed, yet the same spirit of enmity persists today in the form of various sectarian groups working covertly on dangerous projects within Pakistan, aiming at the secularization of the educational system. A question thus arises before every Muslim—whether in Pakistan or in any other Muslim country: Is there an effective way to halt these dangerous hidden agendas? The answer may vary, but in my view, there is one highly effective method: introducing the Prophetic biography (Seerah) as a compulsory subject at various levels in academic institutions as well as in governmental and private administrative sectors, because the Prophetic biography has a profound impact on people’s hearts. The Seerah (peace be upon him) may be introduced and taught through Arabic texts, since the Arabic language leaves a lasting impact on souls, being a language of chivalry, eloquence, and courage, as indicated by the second Caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
This may be implemented at the following levels:
- At the Academic Level:
- Within national curricula from Grade 1 up to the doctoral level in all public and private institutions.
- At the Administrative Level:
A specialized course may be designed according to the nature of military and combat-related professions from the Prophetic biography, and its study should be tested for all candidates for high-ranking positions in the armed forces:
- In officer recruitment examinations for the three armed forces of Pakistan:
- Pakistan Army (land forces)
- Pakistan Navy
iii. Pakistan Air Force
- In judicial examinations for the appointment of government judges in all courts of Pakistan.
- In all administrative positions, such as examinations conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission, Provincial Public Service Commissions, and for senior central services. Colleges of Islamic Studies and Chairs of Prophetic Biography can take the initiative to prepare a comprehensive and well-structured curriculum for all levels in collaboration with Colleges of Arabic and Faculties of Usul ul-Din in Pakistan. This model may also be implemented in other Arab and Muslim countries.
