Abstract

This article looks at whether humans are born believing in God or if they start life without any belief. It discusses ideas from philosophy, psychology, and anthropology to answer this question. Philosophers like Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, Thomas Aquinas, and John Calvin believe that faith in God is a natural part of being human. Even some secular thinkers also agree that people have a natural tendency to believe in a higher power. The article explores these ideas and shows that belief in God is deeply connected to human nature.

The article also looks at modern research from psychology and anthropology, which suggests that humans are naturally inclined toward religious belief from a young age. Psychologists like Justin Barrett say that humans are "born believers", and this belief is part of how our minds work. Studies in anthropology also show that belief in spiritual beings is common in all cultures, which suggests that faith in God is something natural, not just taught. The article concludes that belief in God is an essential part of human nature, influenced by both our minds and societies, not only by the environment we grow up in.
