Abstract

Religious freedom for non-Muslims is a significant topic within the framework of Islamic law and jurisprudence, necessitating a thorough understanding of its principles and applications. This research article analyzes the religious freedom afforded to non-Muslims in an Islamic state through the lens of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) conduct and various juristic opinions. It seeks to address how non-Muslims were granted religious freedom during the time of the Prophet and how their rights were protected, thereby establishing a context for defining the scope of this freedom in contemporary times. The study reveals that the teachings of the Prophet and the views of Islamic scholars underscore the promotion of tolerance and religious freedom within Islamic society.
